Jill Bergman

Jill Bergman is a printmaker who often branches out into painting, collage, environmental writing, poetry, and so many other wonderful distractions. Primarily she creates linocuts, a type of printmaking made by carving a sheet of artist linoleum to make something that looks like a big rubber stamp. This is inked and printed by applying pressure to the back of the paper. The linocut prints can be a single color, use colored ink, or be painted afterward.

At The Alley in downtown Steamboat Springs, you might see Jill carving, painting, drawing, making a collage, or (hopefully not) working on the computer. Her etching press is large, heavy, and still living in the home studio, but every other aspect of her artwork happens at The Alley.
