Birds: Linocuts by Jill Bergman
At The Alley Gallery and Art Studios for February ArtWalk, Birds: Linocuts by Jill Bergman will be featured. From raptors to songbirds, birds capture our imagination. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to fly? How in the world do they navigate and migrate long distances? Bird populations are in decline because of habitat loss, environmental degradation, and changing climate. Audubon reports that there are 229 American bird species requiring urgent conservation action.

The Eco Art Collective
New Beginnings, oil painting by Sloane Speer
January 2026 at The Alley Gallery and Art Studios brings together a group of Yampa Valley artists motivated by environmental issues. Their diverse collection of artwork is inspired by our western landscape, wildlife, forests, public lands, water, and wildfire. These artists, concerned by climate change, are starting a new group, the Eco Art Collective. Each member is dedicated to communicating important topics through their art and daily choices. Members of the collective will be supporting and amplifying each other and the ongoing work around climate change and protecting our environment.
Beginning in March during Insight: Art for Climate Action organized by Western Resilience Center, the Eco Art Collective will be inviting any interested creatives in the region to join in this supportive group.
For now, come to The Alley Gallery and Art Studios during ArtWalk, Friday January 2, 5-8 pm to see the group show. The Alley is in downtown Steamboat Springs, around the corner from the 8th St Steakhouse. The Eco Art Collective group show will be hanging through the month of January, open 11-5, Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Lance Whitner, Glimmers
For December ArtWalk, we are excited to feature Steamboat Springs artist, Lance Whitner with her show, ‘Glimmers.'

Glimmers are tiny moments of awe that spark joy and evoke an inner calm. Moments that enchant you, open your heart and make you feel alive. Glimmers remind us that we are connected to everyone and everything around us.
In order to experience glimmers we have to consciously seek them. We need to find or create moments to allow them to happen. This can mean moving through the giant evergreens and aspens on a snow filled day, hiking through the trees in the golden light of sunset, looking at art, or creating in the studio.
Lance Whitner’s work is a tangible reflection of her profound relationship with nature. The Rocky Mountains have become her inspiration and her home.
Lance grew up in the intricate colors and patterns of America’s southern countryside where she developed a deep rooted connection to landscape and nature. Her formal education began in Washington DC at the Corcoran College of Art and Design but it was at the University of Colorado, Boulder where she obtained a BFA in ceramics as well as her true sense of place.
Lance eventually carved her way north into the ranges of the Rocky Mountains to Steamboat Springs, Colorado and gave her heart to the Yampa Valley. It has been home to her studio, her gallery and her family for the past 25 years.

The Alley is located between 7th and 8th Streets, in the alley of 729 Lincoln Ave. Lance Whitner’s detailed landscape paintings will hang during the month of December, opening Friday 12/5/25 5-8pm.

Please stop in to see Simone’s paintings at The Alley (729 Lincoln Ave, alley entrance), around the corner from the 8th Street Steakhouse, opening Friday Nov. 7th, 5-8 pm during ArtWalk and showing through Nov. 22.
"This collection is a reflection of the place I’m grateful to call home. Mountain life is woven into every piece, the winding valleys, shifting light, and jagged peaks. These works draw inspiration from landscapes across Colorado, from the high passes of Leadville to the open meadows of Walden. Each piece is rooted in the feeling of belonging the mountains offer. Through this work, I hope to share that sense of home, warmth, and welcome - the comfort I find each and every day living in the mountains.” - Simone White
