Lance Whitner’s Church of Nature

Fall, acrylic painting by Lance Whitner

November at The Alley Gallery and Art Studios is going to be very exciting with a fantastic collection of new paintings by Lance Whitner being shown off in our newly remodeled space! Lance has been painting one of her favorite subjects- aspen trees, in each season and with her vibrant and generous color palette. The paintings range in size from 5” x 7” to 96” x 72”!

"I'm a soul who connects with Nature and who finds creative inspiration while moving through a landscape - preferably on a bike or skis. The slow movement powered by my own heart, lungs and body frees my mind to wander, my eyes to look and take in my surroundings and my heart to receive Nature's blessings. This is the energy I put into my paintings”
- Lance Whitner

First Friday ArtWalk is November 6th, 5-8 pm. You can find the Alley between the 8th St Steakhouse and Urbane on 7th, or head through West Lyfe to the back at 729 Lincoln Ave in downtown Steamboat Springs. Come to meet Lance and see the Alley transformed into an aspen forest!

Into the Woods, acrylic painting by Lance Whitner

In October, Ann and I decided to switch rooms, paint walls and the floor and convert the larger of our spaces into more of a gallery for me and Ann, as well as our monthly guest artist. Now Ann is painting in the smaller, cozy studio, and my big work table is planted in the new gallery where I can still carve, paint, or write. We are open 11-5 Wed-Sat and below are photos of how things are looking right now! There is still a little over a week before we hang Lance’s aspen paintings on the main gallery wall, but it would be lovely to have friends and visitors stop by in October. We have Western Resilience Center’s new calendars full of art, The Wild Yampa zine benefitting Friends of the Yampa, new ceramics by Krystal Mackey, and prints and paintings by many local artists.

We also have a 7’ long acrylic mounted print of my Yampa Is Wild mural painting that is really beautiful! $400 from the sale of this print will be donated directly to Friends of the Yampa. This is a chance to have your own copy of this special mural and support Friends of the Yampa!

Thanks for reading!
